What does it take for the little people to get ahead? The answer this month was clever strategy, a military-industrial complex that ignores them, and at least one leather backpack. That’s right. For the first time, Charlie Dash has guided the forest to a system where the Woodland Alliance (the littlest guys) could not be ignored by scoring 30 points.

The early game saw the expansionist birds, led by Alphonse Lichtenberg III, leave their heriditory roost like they’d been kicked out by the Queen. They found out early what happens when viziers can’t do what they’ve been assigned and twice they fell into turmoil. Even so, they established a half-dozen roosts and had an impressive display of avian might with a powerful army that took the battle to the Marquis.

The Marquis’ forces, lead again by Commander Westlake, struggled to protect their workshops and lost their outpost workshops four times to invasion from the Eyrie or to sabotage by the Alliance. Frustrated, but not unbowed she moved decisively through the middle of the forest and, for reasons known but to her and the rule book, completely ignored the brewing uprisings there. She was last seen retreating to her montrous piles of wood to: “build a cabin and retire”.

Taking last month’s bird-proclamation of “let the rest of the forest rot” personally, the Alliance quickly moved to raise awareness and support in the deep parts of the forest. Well away from the eyes and ears of the Marquis and well below the attention of the Eyries. They quietly crafted tools with the support of the local rabbits and raised a small but formidable force of information-spreading hedgehogs. Charlie Dash was heard preaching that “The cats don’t have to stones to face us and the birds don’t have the leaders to challenge us. Our time is now!” They carved out a points victory. The cry of OUTRAGE echoes through the new age of the woodland.

A haligonian roast with flavours of hockey rink were served, very appropriate for the Olympic games happening in the background. Cheese with crackers was made available on a paddle alongside.
